- Current chart of accounts and accounting-system access
- List of locations, departments, programs, or classes used for reporting
Accounts and records
- Bank, credit-card, loan, merchant, and payroll statements
- Open accounts-receivable and accounts-payable reports
- Inventory records and fixed-asset schedules
- Sales-tax, payroll-tax, grant, and restricted-fund information, if applicable
Access and priorities
- Secure access arranged for accounting and document systems
- Current bookkeeper, tax preparer, payroll provider, and approver identified

- Desired reports, KPIs, meeting cadence, and decision needs documented
Next step: Mark each item honestly. Items that are missing, late, unclear, or owned by no one are the first issues to address.
